Summer Camp 2015 at Mount Vernon: July 6-10 and July 20-24
This summer, George Washington’s Mount Vernon Estate will be holding two sessions of “Camp Washington.”
- Session 1 is scheduled July 6–10
- Session 2 will be held July 20-24
This is the first time the Estate will be offering this special opportunity for rising fourth through sixth grade students who want to learn about George Washington’s farm and estate while also having some summer fun.
Students will join staff for an exciting week long adventure where campers will discover George Washington’s legacy by exploring his estate through archaeology, farming, gardening, spinning, surveying, and other hands-on activities. Participants also will visit the Mansion and Grist Mill and meet some of the heritage breed animals who live at Mount Vernon. At the end of each week, families are invited to celebrate their campers’ achievements at an open house on the final afternoon of the camp.
Each session is limited to 14 students (rising fourth to sixth grade) and runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day. The registration fee is $400 and includes lunches, snacks, and a special Mount Vernon water bottle.
