Born poor in Stonewall, TX worked as a high school teacher; congressional aide; elected to congress in in 1937; became senator 1948; JFK’s vice president 1961 until his Nov 22, 1963 assassination.

Ascended to the presidency; re-elected Nov 1964; left office Jan 20, 1969.

Died Jan 22, 1973
