Meet the Grateful American® Foundation Team

David Bruce Smith
founder & president

Author and publisher David Bruce Smith is the creator of The Grateful American™ Series, an interactive multimedia program that is focused on restoring enthusiasm in American history for children — and adults. A graduate of The George Washington University with a bachelor’s degree in American Literature, and a master’s in journalism from New York University, Smith has spent decades as a real estate executive and the Editor-in-Chief/Publisher of Crystal City magazine. Smith is the author of 12 books, including his most recent, “Abigail & John,” the inaugural book in the Grateful American Book Series. Learn more about David Bruce Smith at www.davidbrucesmith.com.

Francesca Raimond
director of digital marketing

Francesca began her career in radio, as a producer for Soundprint, a weekly documentary radio series broadcast nationwide on public radio. She turned her attention to the internet in 1996, as a web producer at Discovery Channel and VH1. In 1999 she began working at Comedy Central as the web producer for The Daily Show with Jon Stewart. In 2006 she became the Senior Director of Production, Digital Media at Comedy Central. She currently runs FIR Productions, a digital marketing and communications company.

Derek Beck
website designer & developer

Derek is a user interface and branding designer with over fifteen years in the industry. His design and development objectives include clean and well organized uses of elements and space  while adhering to web standards through semantic HTML, JavaScript and CSS. A graduate of Kutztown University, he holds a BFA in Communication Design. His professional work has included David Bruce Smith Publications, US Foods, National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Free Patents Online, Arrived, Frederick Arts Council and Hart for Animals. Derek also illustrated the children’s book Elizabeth Walks the Monsters by Jennifer Hollingsworth. He currently works as a senior User Experience and Design Engineer at Immuta and runs BeckUI, a freelance design and development firm.
